Dehradun, Jun 28 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has warned the Central government that the state would face separatist movements like northeastern states if the developmental projects are scuttled.
Talking to reporters here on Monday, Pokhariyal said: "Does the Central government want that till the state is swept by separatist movements like northeastern state, they wouldn't pay attention to our problems?" Referring to Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh’ strong words while asking the state government to take action to stop illegal river bed mining in Ganga, Pokhariyal asked the center to respect the glory of the region.
"It has been a patriotic region. Maintain the glory of the region and respect the wishes of the youth. We will have to migrate if we (the government) are not able to build roads. Ministers like Jairam Ramesh threatened Uttarakhand"

Srinagar, Jun 27 - Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said there was an urgent need to chalk out a policy to rehabilitate the released militants in the state.
"There is an urgent need to work out a policy to rehabilitate them (released militants)," Omar told reporters in reply to a question about the verification drive of former militants launched by police.
He said the verification drive was a regular process to know about what the ex-militants were doing.
Details were sought about the former militants to create a data base of their education and skills so that a package can be formulated for them.
"We are now trying to establish a baseline. How educated they are, what sort of skills they have, what sort of avenues they can be employed in. When this information is available, we can work on a package with the Government of India," he said.
Omar said if there are any cases against the released and surrendered militants, the law will take its own course.
